My Story and Mission
Helena Franco, BS, IBCLC and Nutritionist, owner of Piedmont Lactation and Nurture LLC. Originally from Colombia, South America, moved to New York in 1994 then planted roots in North Carolina in 1996 and have called this place home since. Happily married for almost 9 years with two amazing children, my 7 year old girl, breastfed for 13 months, thanks to my amazing support system. Currently breastfeeding my second child for 20 months and counting. As a former WIC Nutritionist of 10+ years, I found my passion for women and infants/children, specifically the breastfeeding dyad, and after experiencing breastfeeding trouble with my first, despite my vast breastfeeding knowledge gained through WIC, I realized the value of breastfeeding support and guidance through the breastfeeding journey.
Yes, breastfeeding is natural but think of it this way, mom and baby are having their first face to face meeting and they have to get to know each other as they embark on their breastfeeding journey. Sometimes, they can't quite get it on the first try, and that is okay, I am here to help.
I am here to meet you where you are, whether it is day one initiation, going back to work and creating a pump plan, or supporting you into year two of breastfeeding, I will walk with you on your journey.
